SOME THINGS

I was a college dj for four years while in school.  the station was kcpr and it was probably one of the nicest parts of my college experience.  having an access to a huge amount of great music and constant updates on new releases with a great community of like minded music lovers was actually more awesome than it sounds.  Although in retrospect I did take a year off when I was abroad and when I returned most everyone I knew was graduated, the new kids were cool and it turned out to be a good year station wise.  I’m still coping with not being a part of that station.  Searching for new music is an annoying/rewarding task, I’ve sort of forgotten how to do outside of a college radio station atmosphere.  Anyways I will post some short reviews of cd’s I bought.

Jaguar Love - Take Me To The Sea

Jaguar Love – Take me to the Sea

On paper, The Blood Brothers + Pretty Girls Make Graves sounds pretty amazing.  I like the album but not really as much as I thought I’d like it.  The songs are generally hit and miss with me I won’t go into details, but sometimes way to pop.  Overall I think it sounds like blood brothers, or pretty girls makes graves, but not as good.  I’d rather listen to blood brothers or pretty girls make graves than jaguar love.  some tracks are pretty awesome though, first track especially.

The Notwist – The Devil, You + Me

First, my album cover doesn’t look like this one.  It looks way worse, a bunch of color bars.  I didn’t know that this was even a cover until I saw it on allmusic.  maybe they’re wrong, maybe my cover is the real one and they uploaded some random image by accident.  The music is good.

Prefuse 73

2 discs. solid.

Also you should all read this if you haven’t already.  It’s really good.  If you didn’t know Bryan O’Malley and Hope Larson are a comics power couple and they’re really good.

PAGE SEVEN

Page seven.  FACT: Southwest Fiefdom is kinda like Northeast Kingdom.

PAGE 06 – Thom A. Hawk

Page 06.  I struggled mightily with this one.

Tomahawk City, NY – Page One

So here’s page one.  It was kinda hard to draw, some of you may recognize it from my neighborhood.  Also the logo/title was a big reason I procrastinated on this page, I was reworking it here and there.  I’m definitely reading too much orc stain bc it looks way too much like a crappy version of orc stain or crappy metal writing hahaha.  Jesus it’s silly.  Anyways, we’ll see…  I’ll set up a comic page for this comic that has all the pages on it next.  Oh wait,

HERE IT IS!

Tomahawk City, NY – PG 05

Page 5 done.  I’m almost on schedule, (this should have been done on Thursday)  I enjoyed drawing the little disembodied heads for this sequence.  However, I hate the last panel, eventually I hope to redraw it, probably not until the other pages are done.  UGH.  BLEAH!!!

T.C.NYC – PG 04.

Page 4.  I have determined that this is the strangest comic I’ve ever written/drawn.  I have also realized large blocks of text are one of the most annoying things to draw ever, however I like hand lettered comics.

TC/NY – Page Three?

Page 3 or 2 (still figuring it out).   I was cracking up drawing this page for some reason, at one point my thought process was “if there is an open hand, put a tomahawk in it.”

Penciled 4 other pages and started inking one.  Hopefully I can finish it tonight.
